    June Williamson B.Sc.(P.T.), C.A.F.C.I. Registered Physiotherapist, graduated from the University of Toronto in 1980 with Honors with Bachelor of Science degree in Physiotherapy.  June has extensive experience working with orthopedic injuries, neurological conditions, and has a special interest in acupuncture.  She has extensive experience working with injuries sustained in motor vehicle accidents including soft tissue injuries, multiple trauma and acquired brain injury.  June has worked in a variety of settings such as Stratford General Hospital, Perth County Home Care, Director of Physiotherapy Louise Marshall Hospital in Mt. Forest, and Director of Physiotherapy in Palmerston and District Hospital.  In 1993, she established her own private practice, New Horizons Rehabilitation Services Inc.  June has participated in many continuing education programs.  June has achieved McKenzie Level D, Cyriax Level 3, and NDT Level 1. She has been performing acupuncture since 1997, and completed her certification with The Acupuncture Foundation of Canada (CAFCI) in 2007. June has also completed several Acquired Brain Injury Courses and attended many professional conferences on Brain Injury, Sport and Orthopaedic Injuries and Auto Insurance.

 

Cory Birk  Hons. BSc, MScPT, CAT (C). Cory is a Registered Physiotherapist who also has his designation as a Certified Athletic Therapist.  He graduated from York University in 2005 with his Honours Bachelor of Science degree and a Certificate in Athletic Therapy.  In 2007 he completed his Master of Science degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Toronto. Cory joined New Horizons Rehabilitation Services Inc. in December 2007.  He has a special interest in treating sports injuries and other orthopedic conditions.  Cory has worked as a trainer for a variety of teams including the men’s hockey and women’s rugby varsity teams at York University.  Currently Cory is a trainer for the Listowel Cyclones Jr. B hockey team.  Cory has a strong interest in manual therapy and is looking forward to challenging the level 1 and 2 manual therapy courses in 2008.  His career goal is to work as a therapist at the Olympics and with a National Hockey League (NHL) team. 

 

   Tammy Morrell, B.A.P.E (Kin), graduated in 1994 from the University of Western Ontario and obtained her Bachelor of Arts Physical Education, Faculty of Kinesiology.  Tammy enjoys assisting with physiotherapy treatments, providing prescription orthotic assessments, as well as assisting in community rehabilitation, such as hydrotherapy and at public exercise facilities.  Programs established in the pool are specific to the client's needs to improve strength, flexibility and conditioning requirements.  Tammy has been trained to establish and progress programming under the supervision of the Physiotherapist.  Tammy has participated in continuing education programs including WaterART, MET, Neurotherapy, Electrotherapy Modalities.  Tammy joined New Horizons Rehabilitation Service Inc. in 1996.  She has experience as a Rehabilitation Therapist, following exercise programs established by the Physiotherapist for individuals recovering from Brain Injury, Orthopaedic Injuries and Spinal Cord injuries.  She has followed programming established by Occupational Therapy and Speech-Language Pathology for individuals with severe Traumatic Brain Injury. 

 

     Sandra Schlup,  H.B.P.E (Health Promotion), graduated in 2005 from Laurentian University and obtained her Honors Bachelor of Physical and Health Education majoring in Health Promotion.  She enjoys working with people to help in achieving their goals.  Sandra has participated in continuing education in Electrotherapy Modalities, Acquired Brain Injury and CanFitPro. Sandra is also CanFitPro member, Certified as a Level 2 figure skating coach, and has completed Level 3 courses in Skate Canada.  She joined New Horizons Rehabilitation Services Inc. in the fall 2006.

 

Myrtha Hofer P.T.A  Myrtha graduated from Trios College, Kitchener in 2007 with her certificate as a Physiotherapy Assistant.  She joined the staff of New Horizons Rehabilitation Services Inc. as a Physiotherapy Assistant in September 2007.  Her past experience includes working as a health care aide at Knollcrest Lodge, Milverton for several years.  She brings compassion for her clients and a sincere desire to improve their well being by assisting the physiotherapists in providing treatment. She is skilled at performing physiotherapist supervised exercise programs with clients both in the clinic, and in clients' homes.  She has a special interest in older populations, and individuals who have sustained neurological injuries. She has attended continuing education courses in Acquired Brain Injury and CanFitPro.

 

    Donna Clark, MSW, RSW, Social Worker graduated with a Master in Social Work from Wilfred Laurier University, Waterloo in 1984.  She has extensive post graduate employment in medical social work, including hospital and community programs.  Donna's area of expertise is with adults and has significant experience where physical illness or injury is a complicating factor and in the treatment of emotional trauma. Donna is trained in Traumatic Incident Reduction, Thought Field Therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, Emotional Freedom technique, and is a Member of Association of Traumatic Stress Specialists.  She has worked in a variety of settings such as Social Worker at Listowel Memorial Hospital, Freeport Healthcare Village, Wingham and District Hospital, Community Care Access Centre of Wellington-Dufferin, and is presently at Grand River Regional Cancer Centre and in private practice at New Horizons Rehabilitation Services Inc. 

 

    Jean Montgomery, OT Reg (Ont.) Registered Occupational Therapist, received her Bachelor of Health Sciences (Deans Honour list), Hamilton in 1986.  Having 25 years of experience as an Occupational Therapist, Jean has acquired a background in developmental therapy, orthopaedic, neurological and vocational rehabilitation including Functional Abilities Evaluation, Work Site Assessments, and Work Conditioning.  She has experience in assessing children with developmental disorders, providing remediation and augmentation of perceptual, cognitive, and fine motor skills, and providing modifications of home and school programs.  Jean provides Occupational Therapy in the hospital setting, private clinic, and to clients in their home and workplace.  She is skilled at performing home assessments to assist clients and their families in adapting to their current functional limitations.  She has extensive continuing education including Auto Insurance reform, Brain Gym, Splinting and Functional Abilities Evaluation and Acquired Brain Injury.  Jean is an authorizer for the Assistive Devices Program (ADP) and can assess and recommend appropriate mobility devices.  Fabrication of splints is an area of interest.  Jean joined New Horizons Rehabilitation Service Inc. in September 2006.

 

   Carolynne Cressman is the Administrative Assistant at New Horizons Rehabilitation Services Inc.  Bringing her experienced administrative skills to the clinic, she has also been a staff member since the clinics inception in 1993.  Carolynne is very knowledgeable in assisting clients and client inquiries with ease and compassion following personal injury or emotional trauma.  She has attended continuing education sessions surrounding automobile industry updates and on acquired brain injury to better assist clients.

  

     Julie Freisinger B.Sc., C.K. Certified Kinesiologist, graduated from the University of Waterloo in 1995 with Honours, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology.  Julie has extensive experience working with populations injured in the workplace or in motor vehicle accidents.  She does work hardening and work conditioning with clients to prepare them for a return to work. She works with the employer to develop return to work plans and coaches the worker through the reintegration process.  Julie performs Ergonomic Assessments, Physical Demands Analyses and Functional Abilities Evaluations to determine objectively, a worker’s readiness to return to work and make recommendations to improve their workstation.  Julie develops and presents training sessions and work shops on many Ergonomics topics, with extensive experience presenting to groups of  5 – 100.   Julie worked at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital in Rehabilitation Services for 10 years providing many of the above services.  She has worked as an independent consultant since 2004 providing services in health care, construction, industrial/manufacturing and office environments.  Julie has participated in many continuing education courses in the area of Ergonomics.
