News and Events

New Horizons Rehabilitation Services Inc. physiotherapist/athletic therapist, Cory Birk, was a member of the 2016-2017 Cherrey Cup Champion, Listowel Cyclones, Junior B hockey team. In April, the team won the GOJHL Mid-Western Conference championship beating the Elmira Sugar Kings 4 games to 2. Cory is a trainer/therapist for the team and has worked in this capacity with the Cyclones for 8 seasons. Cory has returned to the team again this season and is looking forward to trying to help the team win back-to-back championships. At the beginning of this season the players, coaches, support staff, and executive members were presented with these championship rings to commemorate last year’s achievement. New Horizons Rehabilitation continues to be the physiotherapy center for the Listowel Junior B Cyclones.

One of our talented physiotherapists, Cory Birk, went to the Canada Winter Games in British Columbia this year.  Check out his write up in the Listowel Banner by clicking the link below!

This year, we listened to excellent speakers on:

- Mild traumatic brain injury in sports, daily life and military life
- Technology to prevent head trauma, restore function and enable independence

We attended workshops on:
- Behaviour management strategies for challenging behaviours following traumatic brain injury
- A team based approach to early intervention and return-to-work for individuals with mild traumatic brain injury
- Best techniques for report writing and charting

It was an excellent day with nationally and internationally recognized speakers.

The members of our team at New Horizons Rehab attend courses frequently through the year on Brain injury (including concussion management) as well as orthopeadic conditions. It remains our pleasure to assist our clients in their recovery from injury.
